Retaining Walls
A retaining wall drain is to relieve pressure that water may exert
on the wall.
EZflow
10-inch diameter units are installed at the bottom of the wall with
a downward grade toward a downstream outlet. Additional 10-inch
diameter aggregate units can be added for height variations.
EZflow
or other suitable drainage is always required behind a retaining
wall to drain rainfall which is absorbed by ground above the wall.
Subsurface drainage such as
EZflow
retaining wall drains need to be installed with an even downward
slope toward an outlet. The minimum slope should be about 1 inch per
10 feet. This may require the use of a builder's level and level
rod. Common practice is to provide weep holes through the wall. If
spacing of the weep holes is close enough, grade of the
EZflow
may be level. Local codes may require that retaining walls over 4'
in height be designed by an engineer. Check your local codes before
proceeding.
